Hi, for the Russian Hallmarks pages.

I’ve noticed that the Russian Assay Marks page has been updated, nice. However, I’d like to provide you with some more info about the assayers with which you can fill in some of the blanks.

Here it is:
АШ 1895 is Aleksander Timofeevich Sheviakov, St Petersburg 1895-1913
ВП 1886 is Vasily Alexandrovich Petrov, Moscow 1883-1893
ИК 1878 is Ivan Yefimovich Konstantinov, Moscow 1876-1882
ЛК 1831 could be Leonid Petrovich Kaminsky, St: Petersburg 1832-57 , 1856-62
OC or IC is also called Osip/Ios Stanislavovich Sosikovsky
ЭБ ??? How could Eduard Brandenburg been on three places at the same time??? To my knowledge he worked only in St Petersburg 1850-1866.

I'd like to suggest that in order to improve the identification of unidentified assayers would showing the town mark in connection with the assayer's mark help a lot.

Hi Qrt.S,
An excellent suggestion, adding town marks to the assayer's page, both for identified and unidentified assayers, is now a work in progress.
I've also edited the page to include your identifications of the previously untraced assayers.
My books are currently packed away due to a move in location, as soon as the are available again I will try to find the source of the Brandenburg triple location attribution.
Many thanks,
Tom

Hi again,

I’m happy that you have amended the assayers’ list.
Maybe we cold make some more amendments to the list.

There is a lot of missing assayers and I could tell you at least some of the missing names if you are interested. However, it would increase the list quite a much, so ?
Anyway,
There is a missing town mark for УШ, therefore he could be Ulr. Frid. Straus, Grodno 1850, Riga !857-1862

It’s interesting that you have an own catalogue for the kokoshnik marks. They are actually ordinary assaying marks as the others are.

Nevertheless, AP is not A. Riktera, that is complete nonsense. There was no A. Riktera, .AP is Head workmaster Alexander Vasilievich Romanov. Riga 1895-99, Warsaw 1899-04 and St: Petersburg 1904-12
ИЛ is spelled Yakov Nikolajevich Lyapunov Warsaw 1890-1898, StP 1899-1904
ЛО Liba Oleksa ??? He is Lev Oleks Moscow 1889-90, 92, 1895-1904, 1915-17. Kiew 1905-14
ИС is Ilia Gregorievich Sorokin , Odessa 1896-1910.

Import marks are correct and you could add that in this case the figure “3” is not a number but the Cyrillic letter Z for Kliment Zagaievsky in Vilnius 1895-1898 and Riga 1899-1916. Kindly also correct the exсisting КЗ information.

The are some more minor amendments especially the years, but this is good for now if you don’t want some more amendments, do you? (I hardly dare to ask you, sorry for the questions).

Have a nice evening
