Although established by Enoch James Trevitt, the business likely had much earlier origins in the firm of G.E. Cramp, 121, Vyse Street, Birmingham, who were established in 1827. E.J. Trevitt & Sons later passed to Charles James Trevitt and Alfred Walter Trevitt, and later still to Herbert O. Worrall and K.L. Trevitt.
Trevitt & Sons were noted as being fined £1 and 14 shillings costs on the 9th February 1900, for employing a young person under the age of 16 without a Certificate of Fitness.
Enoch Trevitt was formerly connected to the business of Nicholls & Trevitt (late John Nicholls), 81, Spencer Street, Birmingham:
