Mappin caught Nappin'

Postby dognose » Sun Jun 22, 2008 6:08 pm

Hi,

None of us get it right all the time but we're in good company. This is an advert from Mappin Brothers published in 1901.

Note the so-called 'Old English' pattern in the bottom left hand side and the 'King's' pattern in the bottom right hand side.

They ran this advert for a couple of months before they got around to correcting it.

Thanks Trev,
I do find this oddly comforting.

I guess this would have been one of Mappin Brothers last adverts as the following year the two Mappin firms were united under the Mappin and Webb banner.
