Gorham at the Centennial Exhibition 1876

Postby dognose » Wed Jan 09, 2008 6:45 pm

Hi,

This is a flyer from the 1876 Centennial Exhibition where The Gorham Company exhibited their famous Century Vase.
I don't know if these are uncommon, but I had not seen one before.

Hi,

There are some folds in the paper and it browned a bit, but I wouldn't call that ugly.

Hi Holly and Doos,

Not sure about ugly, but I would rather have a pile of old spoons!

Don't know where it is now, but suspect it is in the Gorham Archives.
Here are some photos of it from the Philadelphia Centennial Exhibition.

It is 50 x 62 inches and weighs approx. 2000 oz.
Scroll down the page, the Hiawatha Vase is certainly worth a look.

Regards, Tom
