This Scottish spoon is made of horn and silver.
It's 7 3/4 inches (10.69)cm.) long.
What else was it used as in addition to a spoon?

Hello Waylander.

Yes, the book says the silver end is a whistle.
I don't know why a whistle is on a spoon.
Maybe someone could explain it?

It's to whistle for the laggards to the dining table whilst one is finishing the dishing out.
