Cucumber Server?

Post by hpidaves »

This 8-1/2" silverplate serving piece is in the 1847 Rogers Bros Sharon pattern (1910). I'm not sure wat it is. It resembles a few cucumber servers I could find, except that it does not have a pierced bowl. I'm sure someone out there will know :)

Thanks,
Dave

:::: Cucumber servers are usually smaller with a circular serving zone. :::: I've seen your larger serving piece described as a "Macaroni/Fried Oyster Server" and I guess it was either for the serving of macaroni or fried oysters or perhaps both simultaneously. ::::

Here's an old thread on macaroni servers: viewtopic.php?t=21710

And a page from Osterberg's 'Sterling Silver Flatware for Dining Elegance' (1994):
