Hi guys,

Could it be an opium pipe?
How old do you think it is?

Thank you!

Hello

This looks like a qalamdan (Persian for pen container). Often a brass container which held a pen and an accompanying inkwell. Ottoman or Persian or adjacent territories

I think these were often reproduced as souvenirs so can't comment on age

Hope this helps

Right, Ottoman or Persian Divit Qalamdan

From Arabic dawat. Turkish kalem (pen, quill).
Looks old (19th century) but if exposed to elements brass can show patina and oxidation rather quickly.

Thank you very much Damon and AG2012.

I didn't know it could be a pen container, it's really interesting!

You're very kind and precise.
