Gorham No. 08262 Handled Pot circa 1906

Post by Traintime »

Made for the Congress Hotel Company of Chicago which was converting the famous Auditorium Hotel and Annex properties to the new Congress Hotel and Annex. Date code symbol key for 1906. Measures appx. 6 1/2" L x 3 1/4" W x 4" H (extremes) with lid #22 matching base #22. With this extended seagull's beak lid, it is not clear if this is a teapot, creamer, or gravy boat. There are no adittional numbers or letters to indicate being part to a set. [As far as I know, there are no associated apparitions and Al Capone did not store bullets in it, regardless of the odd history of this landmark.]
