Identifying Object

can anyone identify this silver object for me, it is hallmarked for american silversmiths black,starr and frost. sterling silver, it was sold to me as a pen, but apart from at the top there is no opening, but the top doesnt open either without it being damaged,there is no opening on the opposite side, its a mystery to me

Is that just reflection, or is that a screw-head on the end of the item?

hi trev, i thought it was screw and tried to undo it, but a piece just broke of and doesnt seem to unscrew
