What are these objects?

What are these silver mounted round objects? As they don’t have a hinge I don’t think it had a lid.

They are hallmarked for Henry Griffith & Sons Birmingham 1900 & 1909.

If anyone can also identify the green stone used that would be super.

On the smaller one, are there any rough areas, matted, gridded patches, I'm thinking cigarettes and matches, but you don't mention a size.

I would think the material is Connemara Marble, very popular around this time.
