Silver strainer

Postby niceguy1 » Tue Nov 11, 2014 10:50 am

GOOD MORNING ALL

What was this strainer used for? It seems it was meant to clip on to something.

Also I would be grateful if anyone can decipher the hallmarks.

THANKS

The strainer is a part of something. Anyway it is from St Petersburg in Russia in silver 875/1000 (84). The assayer ЭБ is Eduard Fyodorovich Brandenburg, active 1850-1866. The rest is impossible to even guess because the marks are badly struck.

Thank you very much for that info. So that leaves us with the makers mark of which only K is visible.

I believe it goes on top of a wine funnel, to catch the leas.
