like a food pusher but attached in center

here are the pics, they discribe it better than I can.
Have had lots of input: foodpusher, wedding cake server for bride and groom, tea bag masher.
We dated it before tea bags were used? We think. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's a food pusher, have seen it in an old catalog.

Similar items were also used in pickle vases to raise them from the brine.

Believe the catalog I saw it in was mid-late 1880s - here's a posted catalog image on another forum, bit unclear, but your piece appears to be #9, as stamped:
