Postby ovo » Thu Feb 23, 2012 2:57 pm

Hello

I bought a lot of silver and had it. What is it? Why it used?

Thanks in advance.

Xavier

Hi Xavier,

Have these pieces been photographed on a reflective surface, or do they have, as they look, a pinch action?

I would take them to be a utensil for eating crab. The size would be helpful for someone that might have a better idea of what their intended use was.

They are nut picks, for removing the meat stuck in a cracked nutshell.

Yes, they are photographed on a mirror.

Thank you for repair photographs

Thank you all for the answers.

They measure about 10 inches long

My first thought was nut pick, but solid silver seemed to soft for the job. Nevertheless after looking at examples of nut picks, that is exactly what they look like, and from what I've read , although rare, there have even been nut crackers made of silver silver. Ten inch long nut picks sound a little unwieldy, but I've never tried something like that, so I wouldn't know for sure.
