Part of a musical instrument?

Postby zilverik » Sat Sep 17, 2011 7:48 am

Hi,

This could be a part of a musical instrument. It is Dutch hallmarked with the sword before 1953 (difficult to see, maybe before 1906). No makersmark. There is a clip (to make it stay on the side of a thin table or a thic glass?)

Reagrds,

Zilverik

Possibly a knife rest to clip onto the side of a cheese platter?

Hi,

That could very well be the case. I never thought about that. Probably because there is no makers mark, but only the assaymark. And in that case I think that it is a part of something bigger. But, that isn't always so. There are examples of silver objects with only an assay mark.
Thank you very much.

Regards,

Zilverik
