Odd Far Eastern Clip Device

Does anyone recognise this clip device? Decorated with bamboo and enamel decoration, probably made in the Far East in the early 20th century.

Depending on size, it could be a brush-rest that fits over the rim od a brush wasking bowl. Different views and size would help.

Find a small bowl about 20cm across and stand this object beside it with the circular curve ending on the inside of the bowl and see is it look like a stand.
