Used for cake?

Postby Hose_dk » Sat Jun 11, 2011 8:52 am

could be that I gave answer myself. Is it a sissor for cake?

made of brass and silver. I have not taken picture of mark, it is to small. But marks are clear halfmoon and crown + 800 that makes it German anno 1900 +- 10 (20) years.
but purpose and name.

A lot has been done to make the brass look nice. Is there a porpuse herefor or is it purely decorative?

Hello and yes on both counts - it is for cookies and the brass is purely decorative. Sometimes the front parts are even gilt. I would date this around 1930, give or take a decade. Best wishes, Bahner

Thanks
So you thing it is that new - of course not much difference in time, but you are later than I would guess. However I could have seen it in use by familly (in case they have had one ;-) ) in the 50ties.
You are proberly right. Another completely useless thing for my cabinet.
I have polished it, and it shines. On my way home my wife had bought strawberries. I carried it in the same plastic bag. Some drop of the strawberry hid the brass - and cleaned it. Now they are still visible, strawberry must have same effect as when i use ketchup.
Thanks again.
