Please help

Postby secondsout » Wed Dec 15, 2010 12:41 am

Hi. Could someone please tell me what this small brush is used for? It is only 6 inches long and 4 inches wide.
Also, it is stamped Sterling with the letters SSS with an arrow going through the letters. Does this stand for Sheffield Sterling Silver?
Thank you.

Hi,

This would be a brush for sweeping the crumbs from the dining table.

The maker is the Stone Sterling Silver Co. See: http://www.925-1000.com/americansilver_S3.html

Thanks, Trev.

Would you have any idea of the age of my crumber?

Well, as they were only in business from 1896 to 1903, I would take a guess at c.1900.
