Tell me please what this article from Veyrat intended for? It is support for spices or in is an inkstand? (length - 19.5sm, height (to the handle) - 20.5sm.0) Thank you.
In 1840 he was succeeded by his son Adolphe who registered a mark in 1840, struck off in 1849. Veyrat Fils (at the same address) registered a mark in October of 1849. I'm wondering if Adolphe continued to use the same mark as his father?
I can't seem to get your images to enlarge, but it looks to be a cruet frame for oil and vinegar. I suspect the neck of one (or both) of the bottles was broken and someone had them cut down and polished for use as salt cellars or condiment dishes. Better than tossing out the original bottles, I suppose, but I'd look for a nice pair of replacement bottles and keep the altered originals safely tucked away.
