I recently found this item, I don't know which is their name or use. I need help on the makers mark and the date. Can anyone hlep with the maker, an approx date? and that it is?

I'm not an expert, but I would say that the maker is Joseph Braham from London and year is 1887.

As pictures it looks like a hunting horn used to signal when the pack is on scent and in full chase. While the horn is used to signal to the dogs, though it also lets mounted followers and stragglers, know the direction to the pack. The hole near the end allows for changes in the sound.

The item is not a horn. The base is covered (tomorrow I add a picture). And the superior part is uncoiled and it seems but in fact like to put a candlewick and to fasten it.

I think it is a novelty table cigar lighter or cigar lamp in the form of a hunting horn. The diagonal hole below the monogram probably once held a lighting wand with wick that would have been lit from the top burner....or it is something entirely different.

I'm sure that fer is correct.

Forgot to mention, the projections at the sides and bottom seem to indicate that it fit into some sort of stand, possibly gimbaled to allow it to tilt in the direction of the user.
