This piece was pictured in a 1904 Unger Brothers catalog.
My estimate of it's length would be no more than 7 inches (17.78 cm.).
What does the catalog call this item?

This might be a difficult one to identify.
Probably should have said it's between 4 inches (10.16 cm.) and 7 inches (17.78 cm.) long.
This item was used by women.

On the same page of the catalog there is another one, different style.

Yes, the catalog calls them curling iron stands.

HUH... curling iron stand, go figure. And I was going to guess a hookah pipe, why does the first picture look like it has a cap with a chain?

I think the cap would cover the heating element.
Not sure if that would be hot coals or a burner of some kind.

The cap is to cover the alcohol lamp which heated the iron. It would have been easier if they had shown it with a wick in place.
