What is it?

OK - I know it's not silver - but it is marked Sheffield and has hallmarks. In trying to identify the hallmarks I came across this group.

I think it says Aston Sheffield. Having a hard time with the top word. Are there hallmarks on either side of ASTON? Or is it a W at the beginning? Is it Westone?

This is driving me nuts. I am trying to sell this for some one and I hate being stumped!

It is heavy - wrought iron and is about 11" wide and 10" tall.

Although, a thin and unlike the American versions I'm familiar with, I suspect it is a broad axe (or at least related to one), an edged tool used for the rough squaring off of timber.
It does not have a hallmark, a "hallmark" has a very narrow definition. See -> http://www.925-1000.com/silverglossary2.html
It does have a tool maker's mark or, to stretch a term, perhaps a cutler's mark.
Suggest you try a tool forum, there are plenty out there.
