This silverplated teapot was made by the Meriden Britannia Company, c.1886.
What is different about this teapot ?

Yes, the spout is different Byran, but it does not turn or move.
That is a clue to the big difference between this teapot and others.
They only made these for 10 or 12 years.

Would it be a pump action teapot?

It is a pump-type teapot, marketed as "self-pouring", the spout goes to the bottom of the tea or coffee pot and the liquid is dispensed by raising the lid with it's attached piston, placing a finger over a vent hole and pushing the lid back down.

U.S. Patent #380,521 issued April 3, 1888 to John James Royle of Manchester, Lancaster, England. Earlier 1886 patents in England, France and Belgium.

Yes Trev & Cheryl, these were called "Self-pouring teapots" or "Pump pots".
