Postby halyran » Tue Jun 02, 2009 2:58 pm

Hi. I am not able to identify the pattern or maker of this silverware. Could anyone help with either?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Halyran,

Your silverware is possibly post-war Soviet Union electroplated nickelsilver.

The admin is politely asked to remove this question to the Russian silver section to get a translation/transcription from the Russian speaking/reading experts.

Hope this helps.

Hello.

Yes, those are Russian marks.
The letters that appear to be MHU are actually cyrillic letters that refer to the base metal of copper, nickel & zinc ( melkhior ).

Thought I remembered someone here identifying the maker's mark on the far right.
Searched the forum, but could not find any information.

Hi again,

The mark on the right confirms the country of origin; the name in cyrillic is CCCP (The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics or The USSR).

Hi,

Here is the thread in which Juke and Zollo answer the question.

To the left the Zaparosia Nickel Mark which is a factory in Ukraine and the digits are for the price, 2 roubles 00 copecks.

Thank you so much, to both, for your replies! This certainly helps point me in the right direction. I will see if I can move this to the Russian section.

Thanks again!
