Gorham sterling pattern on knives & forks - looks like B

Postby ollieblue » Sat Dec 20, 2008 2:52 pm

Hello there, I have recently aquired some knives and forks which have very faint markings on the back. However, one small spoon is clearer and the marks seem 100% that of Gorham - the lion, anchor and ornate G are all raised, as is the Sterling mark, which is in capital letters and encased in a rectangular box. I have tried to take a picture but it is impossible to see.
The question is, what is the pattern? I have looked it up to see that it is similar to BEAD except for this indentation in the base of the pattern on each handle. I cannot find anything exactly the same.
Any ideas?
Thank you all in advance.

It is Newcastle sterling, 1895 - Gorham.
Hope I haven't wasted anybody's time.
Merry Christmas.
