This will probably sound ludicrous, but did you ever entertain the possibility that it might be a forgery?

Would be very helpful if you would post full pictures of the piece, which appears from the tip you do show, to be something in the Acanthus pattern (the scale and detailing will vary on the different pieces). What makes you feel that it isn't Acanthus?

Hello-

I agree with Jasen; it is not Acanthus, that is at least according to everthing I can find online.

Then again, what do I know.

I'm guessing that we are looking at a hollow handle example from either a dinner knife or a serving piece. There are always differences between the hollow handles and the die struck flat pieces that are generally used in pattern example books and websites. A full photo will let us know.

Hello-

Obviously not an approved site that I referenced, I apologize, but a quick google search of Georg Jensen "images" seems to tell me that this is not "Acanthus".

Looks like Acanthus to me, this is a comparison between Jasen's piece and an Acanthus butter knife (showing some wear).

It really is quite amazing how different the pattern appears on different pieces. It almost looks like two different patterns.

Tom / Cheryl-

Now I understand what you are saying, I never realized there was so much of a difference between a knife and a fork. Thats what I like about this site, I learn something every day.

Thank you- Byron

Thanks, The funny thing is that Acanthus pattern has a slightly different end which is scored... perhaps a different die was used..
