Gorham Japan Fork Art Nouveau - Pattern ?

Postby koelsch » Mon Feb 25, 2008 8:09 pm

Hello everyone - it would be very much appreciated if anyone would be so kind to tell me the pattern name. I checked the 19th century ones - this was not among them. Shouldn't it be 20th century anyways - if it is Art Nouveau? - which it looks like.

Is this a small serving fork for cold meats & cheeses? 7" x 1 1/8". What does the small hook on the left tine signify?

Also, since there is no sterling mark I guess it is silverplate? All that is on the back is "Gorham", C in a circle and "Japan".

Under Gorham marks & dates it says the C stands for 1870 but it must be a different C since it is not in a circle.

I tried different websites with no luck so far.

Just starting to learn.............

Thank you for any help!

By jove, I've got it.

Royal Lily, Silverplate, 1991.

I knew it was a lily, but nothing like the Tiger Lily I have from Reed and Barton.

Enjoy
