Patinating silver

Hi all, recently I had a silversmith reconstruct two removable handles to the XVIII century meat dish. However, the dish has a nice patina, but the handles are silver and very shiny. I want to preserve the patina on the dish, but am not sure how to patinate the new handles to match.
Any advice?
