Good Morning,

I have an Navajo squash blossom necklace that I hope someone can help me out with. I purchased this from a pawn shop 1983 while passing through AZ on my way home on leave from the Navy.

It appears to be made of sterling silver, turquoise and red coral. It is strung on silver chain. It also has the hallmark "NJ" stamped on the pendant suspended from the naja. Several years ago, a gentleman stopped me and informed me that, based on the color, texture and apparent matrix content, the turquoise was from a particular mine in AZ. I did not have the good sense to write any of this information down.

Would anybody out there be able to shed any light on this piece?

Many thanks,

James P.

Lovely piece, have always had a weakness for the turquoise/coral combination. Can't help with the maker, but here's a link to informational sites on turquoise, have found the link labelled "Turquoise Mines" particularly helpful, might jog your memory regarding the mine.
