Square Mark Bifurcated By Line, Looks like RD Perhaps?

Have a pair of sterling earrings with geometric symbols as decoration. The mark is "STERLING" and a square mark that looks like a lowercase "r" and a "d" if I use my imagination. Anybody recognize this mark? Thanks in advance!

I may be way off base, but I could imagine that being Native American.

Thanks, I think the circle, plus sign, and lightening bolts could all be considered to be Native American, possibly Hopi or Zuni symbols.
