Info Coin Silver maker Pratt & York, Fisherville, NH

Hello, this site is great - so much info. I have some coin silver spoons which I believe were my great grandmothers and they are marked Pratt & York, Fisherville. I know that Fisherville was a town that was part of Concord, NH but I've been unable to find any info on these silver makers. Does anyone out there know anything about Pratt & York: years they operated, who they were? I'm posting a couple of pictures of one of the spoons. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Linda,

My guess is that your spoon was retailed by Pratt & York in Fisherville, not made by them. It was a common practice to have the retailer's name stamped on the back of a spoon such as this, sometimes with the maker's marks included, sometimes not. If you research businesses in Fisherville you will likely find a retail operation by the name of Pratt & York in the mid 19th century.

Thank you Bill, I considered that Pratt and York might be a retailer but couldn't find any info on them searching the net. I did find one auction house in CA that had sold some spoons several months ago but there was no info on their site either. However, I'm not that far from Concord, NH and the NH Historical Society and that's my next stop. I've always loved silver and I don't even mind cleaning it. Sparkle plenty! Thanks again.
