Help with ID

Post by hpidaves »

I believe this 5-1/8" spoon is coin silver, but I cannot ID the maker. I can see that it has been made in two pieces and soldered together, with what I believe is the maker's mark just below the solder line on the reverse of the handle. I assume this is so that it could not be separated and then re-connected with a different bowl portion later (just guessing).

As for the marks further up the handle, there appear to be five separate marks, with the bottom being in the shape of a heart. The letters/shapes are difficult to make out, but they appear to be "E" inside the heart, "T" inside the next one, and a "D" inside the third one. The others seem illegible to me.

Any help is greatly appreciated -- as always.

Dave
