unknown initial/character markings

Post by bobtny55 »

A large silver ladle approximately 33 cm. long, bowl approximately 9 cm. diameter, weighing 267 grams, has handle initials on the back of (apparently W, bird with outstretched wings, D. I am interested in knowing the silversmith or house of manufacture, and the approximate time period of production. It was in the company of another (Hildenburg and Bros Philadelphia) ladle, but this latter is not in question. It is noted only to give possible hints about the origin of the unknown one. Thanks

Welcome to the forum. I don't mind being wrong in this case, but to me it doesn't look like American or solid silver. Hopefully others will shed some light on your inquiry.
