Ladle with same mark twice

Postby jacksonsvl19l » Wed Jan 20, 2016 8:23 pm

Hello. This Ladle has the same mark twice, what seems to me to be SW in an oval.
I did my due diligence as far as research goes, but there were a few possibilities.
Could anyone tell me who this mark belonged to.
Thank You.

Hi,

It appears to be one of the marks given to Samuel Williamson of Philadelphia (working circa 1794-1813), and the style and period of the piece would fit. Catherine Hollan's "Philadelphia Silversmiths" has a picture of the mark.
