c.1780 Table Spoon marked KINGSTON

A silver table spoon with feather edging, c.1780. Marked simply KINGSTON. Does anyone know who this is?

Hi Miles,

There is at least one Canadian maker, from Kingston, Ontario, who stamped KINGSTON on his silver.

Langdon has a picture and attribution for George Spanenberg. Although the example of KINGSTON there appears a little different, it might be a good place to start.

John Kingston
Freeman NYC 28 March 1775; working in Shelborne Canada during Revolution; returned to NYC in 1794 and died there in 1796.

What is the monogram on the spoon?

To add to the last, he and his wife (Mary Garrison, married NYC 10 April 1779) with a child and two servants went to Shelburne as part of the Port Roseway Associates in 1783 and were granted a town lot. The following year, he was granted 50 acres in Lunemburg County. There is nothing recorded indicating his occupation during this period. On his return to NYC, he opened a shop on Read Street, then at 3 Bowery Lane by 1795.
