Dutch? Rudd & Scudder

I looked through the marks here and found an example of the lion facing right in the Dutch category.

Is this silver? Is it dutch?

Hi,

RUDD & SCUDDER coin silver table spoons are advertised at auction sites but with a lot of question marks regarding the markings. Most likely the marks pretend to be British silver hallmarks.
I found; Rudd & Scudder New York, NY c. 1830-1851 Joseph Rudd and Egbert Scudder silversmiths.
The answer to your question; most likely American and not Dutch. Is it silver? I recognize no legal hallmarks. My advice; have the items checked and assayed. Good luck.

I agree with Oel. This does look like the mark for The New York City jewelers and watchmakers Rudd & Scudder. I suspect that the pseudo marks belong to the manufacturer who was as likely as not a New York company. I can't attest to the dates for the partnership of Rudd & Scudder, but the second quarter of the nineteenth century is close enough for me.
