W & H Coin Silver Spoon

Postby wwandel » Sat Feb 14, 2009 8:07 pm

This spoon seems interesting in two ways. First, I can't tell from the makers marks if this is a Woods & Hughes mark.

Then to make it really interesting, I found this spoon close to Washington DC with the engraved initials TL. In looking for these initials, I found that Alexander Hamilton used those initials. History tells us Hamilton died in a duel with Arron Burr in 1804. Did his family keep using his initials? Did he have them made that early?

Hope someone can help. This is a great site!
