butter knives: Britannia or sterling? Help with maker/date

Postby codaphins » Sun Feb 01, 2009 2:00 pm

Can someone kindly identity this pair of butter knives? They seem to be Brittania but I can't identify the maker or city. The mouth of the lion seems to be open on the other knife as well, but the other marks are almost impossible to see. If could identify one other mark it would be very helpful dating these items.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi,

I suspect they're American pseudo marks.

Hello.

Don't think that is a set of marks Birks used.
Here's three sets of marks that Birks did use.
From top to bottom D = 1901, N = 1928, and G = 1942.
