help identify ring markings

I have not been able to find anything on this ring. Hope someone can help.
the markings are on the outside of the band..

5 in a square, then 8THO(HO connected)in a rectangle with arrow pointing right, then in a rectangle is a Y, a star with sickle(?) in star, then 583.
any information will be helpful.

Hi,
Can't say for sure without seeing the marks, but by the description, I'd guess that they are Russian marks of the Soviet era.

Yes, it is a soviet piece, looks to be 60s or 70s vintage.
