Weight determination question

Postby kerangoumar » Tue Jul 31, 2007 10:02 pm

Does anyone have any thoughts on how to determine the weight of a gold nugget set in a relatively thin, plain, 6-prong gold setting?

Thank you - I suppose that would be relatively accurate as the amount of alloy in the ring part wouldn't be that great.

Hi,

I would weigh the whole ring and then calculate the weight of the ring, as that is probably not so difficult to approximate (you need to know the karat weight of course).
Then detuct one from the other to get the approx. weight of the nugget.
