Henry Birks and sons

Postby Kaya » Sun Jul 22, 2007 9:52 am

Hey there guys,

I have a Birks and sons ring, but have trouble identifying the hallmark after the makers mark.

The full hallmark is 'BIRKS JF 14K'. Does anyone know what the JF means? Also is there any way to date this ring? Its got 3 pearls and 4 small diamonds set into the top. Its obviously gold, bt the setting looks white gold or poss platinum?? Any help would be great.

Many Thanks
Kaya

I can only offer a possibility for the JF mark.
Henry Birks & Sons acquired many firms and their trademarks over the years.
One such company was J. Froland, Kingston, Ontario, Canada.
Their marks were J.F. and J. Froland. Don't know anything more about them.

Pat.
