Help, I have a maker but that is it.

Hi,
I have a ring that I picked up second hand. There has been a repair done over the hallmarks.
The makers mark is I & C in a rectangle (from what I can tell) the rest is repaired over.
On the other side of the repair (the repair is about 8mm) There is what seems to be 7701/39
I am just wondering If anyone knows anything about the maker or what the numbers mean, so I might be able to see where the ring came from or how old it is.
