Your help please

Postby Intrigued1 » Thu Feb 16, 2006 8:04 pm

Hello there, I wonder if someone could assist me with the identification of an unusual ring I possess. It is a heart shaped ring with a rose quartz stone in the middle and has ss (in a circle) and 333. There are no other markings and I have broadly scanned the internet in the hope that i can find some more information relating to this rather unusual ring.

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated!

333 mark

Postby georgiansilver » Fri Feb 17, 2006 10:20 am

Hi there. By sheer coincidence, I was looking at three rings which belonged to a friends wife who died recently. They are all marked with 333, I asked him if he knew where they were from and he said he had bought them, as gold, in Germany. They did not look good quality gold...having a sort of dark appearance but I assume they are 333 parts to the thousand. Hope that helps. Best wishes, Mike.

It's correct that 333 stands for 333/1000 gold. Translated, this means 8 carat gold. In many countries, Sweden for instance, this is not allowed to be called gold, since the gold content is only 1/3. But in Germany, which is the probable place of origin, it's correct and legal to sell this as gold.
