Unknown French Maker's Mark

Post by piette »

Hello all -

I wonder if you can help me identify a French maker's mark on a piece of jewellery please. Unfortunately I do not have a photograph of the whole item at the moment, only one of the mark. It appears to be L over A in a lozenge.

Thank you all very much!

Hi,
http://www2.culture.gouv.fr/public/mistral/marque_fr
offers Louis Aucoc L.A and a wolf, passing head to the left (un loup, passant tête à gauche),but his mark was completely different on Art Nouveau jewelry I have seen.
Let`s wait for more responses.

Thank you for the suggestion! I don't think the piece is by Aucoc, it is too early for him I believe. I would say circa 1870.

Thank you -
