Pocket watch - helping hand needed

Post by JamesF »

Good Afternoon,

I am trying to find out a little more about a Stolz of Birmingham pocket watch we have found recently. It belonged to a late family member. A google search reveals very little, so was hoping this forum would be able to guide me. Surprised to see nothing when searching but perhaps it’s of little interest. I have been asking around on another forum with some interesting facts and heritage shared where all the photos are uploaded.

Thanks for any advice and for pointing me in the right direction.

Best wishes

Hi,
I saw your post in another forum (watches).
The case has no British hallmarks whatsoever, and not even import marks for Birmingham.
LEB maker`s mark does not exist in Birmingham Assay Office. That said, the case is most likely German made,of lower silver standard than sterling (e.g.800 instead of 925 sterling) and therefore not legally qualified to be hallmarked in Britain.
Stolz engraved ‚‚Fine silver‚‚ to satisfy the customers.
You can embed the images here,it's interesting.
Regards
