I found a ring 20 years ago with a metal detector and never cleaned it up until recently. Upon cleaning I discovered it has a hallmark that looks like some kind of strange animal like a full bodied wolf with a mane. Next to the hallmark it reads sterling Pat Pend. It's very thin and I used a jewelers magnifier to increase the size fit a picture. I did not know I couldn't post pictures when I started this post. Anyway, I was hoping someone might be able to identify the makers hallmark. It's amethyst and still has some hint of gold finish on the Sterling. The ring circle fits inside the jewel housing and appears to be cut and then pressed into the housing. The jewel is in a solid base housing. I don't think it's all that valuable but would love to know its history. Thanks in advance for your help! Silvertip1958
