Charles Horner -when the change in maker's mark?

Postby guapagirl » Tue Jul 04, 2006 4:04 pm

A general query here. I have some Horner pieces from 1908 with a full hallmark and the straight "Times" capital CH as a maker's mark, but I have seen pieces for sale with the intertwined CH as maker's mark. Does anyone know when the intertwined mark was introduced?

Many thanks in anticipation, Liz

You can contact the Bankfield Museum in Halifax through the following website for a definitive answer.
http://www.charleshorner.com/contents.htm
Just copy and paste into your address bar and GO. Best wishes, Mike.

Thanks for the reply, I have emailed them and let the rest of the forum know what they say. I find it amazing that so little info exists on line for such a popular maker!

The reason for the lack of information online is that a book "Charles Horner of Halifax" has been on the market for some years and has copyright on his life and works. The book retails at around £40 and I am sure someone is making a fortune from it. Best wishes, MIke.
