Irish hallmarks - need help identifying

Postby jerraluv » Mon Apr 21, 2014 5:42 pm

Hi: I have an Irish pendant with the marks J.MCo and the Dublin assay marks of Britannia and the crowned harp (I think) along with a year indicated by the letter 'X'. Could anyone tell me who the maker was and the year? If not the maker, the year alone would be really helpful. Thanks! Picture at the following URL:

JMCo is the Jewellery & Metal Manufacturing Co and the "X" is the date letter for 1965. I hope our Irish visitors will not be too offended by your use of the word "Britannia" to describe the seated lady. She is, of course, Hibernia.

Thank you Phil and Trev, the information is exactly what I was looking for...apologies for the Britannia / Hibernia mixup.
