identifying maker's mark

Postby June » Mon Dec 17, 2007 8:55 pm

I have a sliver pin assayed in Edinburgh, I need to find out the maker. The initials appear to be MG. Also there are 2 925 stamps, but one seems to have what looks like scales of justice over it. There doesn't look like a year letter.
Thanks

Hello June.
The scales of justice mark you describe sounds similar to a Convention mark used since 1976.
If your piece was imported the Edinburgh town mark would be replaced by an X in an oval.
Don't know who used the MG mark. Is this mark in a scroll cartouche
