S Kirk hallmark question

Postby tofu5 » Sat Nov 17, 2007 5:32 pm

I have a bracelet, repousse, with a very tiny S Kirk & son, Sterling, marking. This is very small and is on the outside of the bracelet. All the other similar bracelets I have seen have the S Kirk & son mark on the inside of the bracelet. I assume this is a real S Kirk bracelet. If so, is it possible to find the year range it was made, or if in fact the mark never was on the outside of the bracelet, in which case this is not a true S Kirk.

Possibly found the years

Thank you for the link to a great page. This very small mark, 1 millimeter in height, and on the outside of the bracelet, says S. KIRK & SON, then a few spaces, then STERLING. There are two year spanses this could have been from, 1846-1861, and 1868-1890, for the same mark.
Again, thanks.

Nancy
