Yates Virginian Silver - I cant find any info.

Hi,
Iam hoping someone out there can help me. I have some fiddle pattern forks with "Yates Virginian Silver" on them. After doing a lot of reading I suspect they may be nickle plate but Iam not sure.
Can someone tell me a little about the company and if its silverplate or nickle Iam only a newbie. The forks are monogrammed and show some wear on the tines but there is no wearing through of any silverplate and they polished up beautifully. thanks
